1. System construction and personnel training

Management system: Urban gas operating enterprises should establish safety production management system, operation and maintenance system, and operating regulations, and establish a sound work system of daily control, weekly investigation, and monthly scheduling.

Personnel requirements: Maintenance personnel must undergo professional training and pass the assessment before they can take up their posts. In addition, they need to be familiar with the distribution of gas pipelines within their jurisdiction and the location of major equipment and accessories, and master the operation methods of related facilities.

2. Regular inspections

Determine the inspection frequency based on the pressure level, usage status, and operating years of the pipeline. For example:

High pressure gas pipelines or sub high pressure gas pipelines that have been in operation for more than 15 years should be inspected at least 3 times a week;

Sub high pressure gas pipelines that have been in operation for more than 10 years and medium pressure gas pipelines that have been in operation for more than 15 years should be inspected at least twice a week;

Other types of gas pipelines should be inspected at least once a week.

The inspection content includes but is not limited to the environmental conditions around the gas pipeline, abnormal crossing structures, integrity of signs and markings, status of ancillary facilities, leakage detection, etc.

3. Safety protection

During on-site operations, staff should be equipped with appropriate safety protective equipment and ensure that the work area is fenced and marked with warning signs.

For confined space operations (such as valve wells), oxygen and combustible gas concentrations must be detected first, and operations can only be carried out in compliance with safety standards. At least two people are required to cooperate, with one person working and one person supervising.

4. Emergency response

If safety hazards or other situations that may affect the safe operation of pipelines are discovered, effective measures should be taken in a timely manner to solve them.

When encountering serious problems such as corrosion and leakage, the operating unit should promptly organize maintenance and repair, and develop maintenance and renovation plans based on the actual situation.

In the event of an emergency such as gas leakage or explosion, it is necessary to quickly report to the police, evacuate the crowd, and activate the emergency plan for proper handling.

5. Technical maintenance

Regularly maintain gas pipelines and their ancillary facilities, such as anti-corrosion painting of exposed pipelines, updating warning signs, etc.

Regularly check for leaks using gas leak detection instruments, especially for pipelines without cathodic protection, at least twice a year

By implementing maintenance measures for these systems, the safe and stable operation of gas pipelines can be effectively ensured, reducing the incidence of accidents and better serving the needs of residents' lives and socio-economic development.
