Common knowledge of safe use of gas
Gas, as a clean energy source, is widely used in daily life, but if not used correctly, it may cause serious safety accidents. Here are some common knowledge about safe use of gas:

1, Types and characteristics of gas
Gas generally includes three types: natural gas, artificial gas, and liquefied petroleum gas. Among them, natural gas and artificial coal gas are transported to residents' homes through pipelines, while liquefied petroleum gas is supplied in bottles. It is worth noting that the specific gravity of natural gas and artificial gas is smaller than that of air, and they are prone to diffusion after leakage; Liquefied petroleum gas has a higher specific gravity than air and is prone to accumulation and diffusion after leakage.

2, Precautions for Gas Use
Maintain ventilation: When using gas, ensure good indoor ventilation, turn on range hoods or exhaust fans, and promptly eliminate the exhaust gas generated by gas combustion.
Supervised by someone: During the use of gas, there should be a dedicated person to supervise and prevent the overflow of soup from extinguishing flames or causing accidents due to dry burning.
Closing the valve: After using the gas, pipeline gas users need to close the valve behind the gas meter, and for long-term outdoor use, they also need to close the valve in front of the meter; Liquefied petroleum gas users need to close the cylinder angle valve.
Check the rubber hose: The connecting rubber hose between the gas appliance and the gas pipeline should use a dedicated rubber hose or stainless steel corrugated pipe, with a length not exceeding 2 meters, and should not be used through walls. Pipe clamps must be installed and fastened at the connection with gas appliances and gas pipelines.
Prohibited stacking of flammable materials: The room where gas pipeline facilities and gas appliances are installed is strictly prohibited from being inhabited and cannot be converted into a bathroom, living room, or other use. It is also prohibited to stack flammable and explosive materials.
Regular inspection: Users should regularly check whether indoor gas facilities are in good condition. Soap solution can be applied to various connections of the gas pipeline system to check for air leaks. Do not use open flames to test for leaks.
Alarm device: It is recommended that users install and use gas leak alarm devices to promptly detect and handle gas leak issues.
3, Emergency measures in case of gas leakage
Close the valve: If gas leakage or abnormal phenomena are found, the gas pipeline valve or liquefied petroleum gas cylinder angle valve should be immediately closed.
Window ventilation: Quickly open the window for ventilation and air exchange, eliminate all open flames, and do not turn on or off electrical appliances.
Evacuate the scene: Then go to a safe outdoor area and call 119 or 110 to report to the police.
Firefighting treatment: If indoor gas pipelines or other facilities are found to be on fire, quickly close the gas pipeline valve or liquefied petroleum gas cylinder angle valve while ensuring personal safety, and extinguish the flame with water, wet towels, fire extinguishers, etc.
Emergency treatment for poisoned individuals: Once someone is found to have gas poisoning, the patient should be immediately moved to a well ventilated area, and measures should be taken to keep warm. At the same time, call the 120 emergency hotline.

4, Precautions for using gas appliances
Select qualified products: Use gas combustion appliances that meet the requirements of the gas source and have flameout protection devices.
Correct installation location: Gas burning appliances should be installed in a well ventilated kitchen and should not be installed in bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, or basements.
Installation of flues: Gas water heaters and gas heating furnaces require the installation of dedicated flues, and the use of direct discharge gas water heaters is prohibited indoors.
Professional installation and maintenance: The installation of gas combustion appliances (excluding household gas stoves) should be completed by qualified units, and qualified units should also be sought for maintenance in case of malfunctions.
Regular replacement: According to relevant regulations, the scrapping period for artificial gas water heaters is 6 years, for liquefied petroleum gas and natural gas water heaters it is 8 years, and for gas stoves it is also 8 years.
5, Special precautions for liquefied petroleum gas
Choose legitimate channels: Use liquefied petroleum gas and turnover steel cylinders provided by licensed liquefied petroleum gas operating enterprises.
Placement: The steel cylinder should be placed in a well ventilated area, with a clear distance of not less than 0.5 meters from the gas appliance and away from heat sources.
Correct operation: Do not heat, smash, or lay down liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. It is prohibited to dismantle or repair cylinder valve accessories, change cylinder inspection marks or paint colors without authorization.
Regular inspection: Steel cylinders with a service life exceeding 8 years as stipulated in the "Liquefied Petroleum Steel Cylinders (GB5842-2006)" should be scrapped.
